Credit BureauA credit bureau is simply an information gathering and dispensing company. They gather financial related information about consumers and distribute it to lenders for a fee. Think of them like gate keepers of your financial report card. Anything that comes or goes has to get past the bureaus. The three main reporting bureaus are, Equifax, Experian, and Transunion. Their contact information as well as a direct links to their sites are provided below. You can contact them if you want your credit report or if you need to get information on correcting inaccurate information on your report. Keep in mind that the total motivation of the credit bureau is to provide accurate information, and they will help correct your report towards that end. They are NOT motivated to help you IMPROVE your credit. This would be like you asking a police officer who just gave you a speeding ticket advice on how you could get out of it. Don't ask the gate keeper where the holes are!
